CLIENT MOVING & HANDLING – 2 Day
Aims :-
- Provide the student with a sound knowledge of the issues involved in Client Moving & Handling
- To introduce the relevant legislation
Objectives : - By the end of the course the student will
- Be aware of their employers obligations
- Be aware of their own obligations
- Understand why a good handling technique is important
- Undertake a basic risk assessment by yourself
- Have practised safe methods of moving and assisting clients
Classroom instruction on the following : -
- Legislation
- Injuries associated with manual handling
- Correct handling techniques
- Risk assessments
Practical instruction and student participation on : -
- Assessment in relation to a client
- Handling techniques - Chair to stand. Bed to chair. Wheelchair to car etc.
- Mechanical aids - Use of slide sheets, handling belts, towels, canvas slings, turntables and banana boards etc.
